Why Justin Bieber Was Not Deterred by RI Bomb Scares

Shear English - World pop star Justin Bieber performed last week in Bogor, West Java, while the media rap continuing stories on the recent bomb scares. The Canadian teenager presented his big hits including "Baby," on Saturday evening, April 24 at the Sentul International Convention Center, Bogor, with great success in front of at least 12,000 fans.

Less than a week later, on Wednesday evening (27/4), the American rock band from Los Angeles, also performed in Jakarta when the media was still busy reporting stories on terrorism and discoveries of planted bombs in several places in town. Why those world-class artists seemed to be undeterred by the bomb scares and anyway decided to remain on their show schedules here?

Bomb scares have been foiled just within the weeks those artists had been scheduled to perform here. After a lone suicide-bomber who detonated himself at Cirebon Police`s mosque on April 11, police found another bomb hidden under a gas pipeline in Serpong, Banten province.

The big buck from the shows alone would not be the sole reason for them to perform when bomb scares had been around in Indonesia, a country with a thick record of being made terrorism target since terrorist bomb attacks in Bali in October 2002.

Indonesia which is among the world`s top countries in tackling terrorism may also be the reason. Police have anyway succeeded in hunting down and capturing the perpetrators just within days. Praises for Indonesia`s success in fighting terrorism have been flowing in from around the world, from Washington, D.C. to Australian capital of Canberra and neighboring countries.

Kate and William's First Baby Could be Queen

Shear English - Prince William and Kate Middleton's first child could take the throne regardless of their sex under changes being investigated by the Government. Nick Clegg is making inquiries into changing the rights of succession, which currently favour boys. The Deputy Prime Minister, who is responsible for constitutional reform, is looking into the possibility of removing 'male primogeniture'.

Currently the first-born boy in a family takes precedence, even if he has an elder sister. Mr Clegg said today:'I think most people in this day and age would think it's worth considering whether we change the rules so that baby girl could become the future monarch.

'I think that would be in keeping with the changes that are happening with society as a whole.'

However, Mr Clegg warned the move would not be 'straightforward' because all the Commonwealth countries would have to be consulted. 'My own personal view is that in this day and age the idea that only a man should ascend to the throne I think would strike most people as a little old fashioned,' he added.

'If Prince William and Catherine Middleton were to have a baby daughter as their first child, I think most people would think it is perfectly fair and normal that she would eventually become Queen of our country.

Something Old, Something Nude : Naked Wedding

Shear English - William and Kate might like to give this idea for their big day a miss. A couple have turned the other cheek to tradition by getting married - in a naked wedding. Melanie Schachner, 26, and Rene Schachner, 31, had racked their brains to come up with something so memorable for their big day that they would never forget.

The groom and not-so-blushing bride decided to strip off and get married in the nude in front of their family and friends. They walked down the aisle in a register office service in Feldkirchen, Austria, before celebrating with a reception in a nearby castle.

Melanie wore a traditional veil and white high heels. Her breasts were exposed but a flesh-coloured thong covered her nether-regions. The groom, however, remained totally nude throughout the service, using only a top hat to cover his modesty when posing for wedding pictures.

Thankfully for the couple, the registrar managed to keep her embarrassment under control and make it through the reading of the vows. Melanie said: 'We're not ashamed of our bodies and we wanted to do something different. It certainly saved on a wedding dress.'

Real Men Don't Buy Girls (How Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore Address Sex Trafficking)

Shear English - They recently launched their own foundation to address and try and combat the issue of child sex trafficking. And now, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have enlisted the help of their celebrity friends to launch an interactive video campaign which they hope will educate people about the shocking trade. 

The couple were helped by stars such as Justin Timberlake and Sean Penn who both starred in the 'Real Men Don't Buy Girls' videos, launched on behalf of the Demi and Ashton Foundation, or DNA.

In Sean's video, he is shown ironing a sandwich with the words, 'Real Men Know How To Use An Iron', while Timberlake is shown about to shave with a chainsaw with the tagline 'Real Men Prefer A Close Shave'.

Ashton also recorded a video, showing him sniffing his dirty socks, throwing them in the bin and getting a brand new pair out of a packet with the line 'Real Men Do Their Own Laundry'.

Hot News !! Madonna NOT Under Investigation by FBI

Shear English - A spokeswoman for Madonna said on Tuesday that neither the singer nor a charity she backs in Malawi is being investigated by the FBI. Some recent unsourced media reports have said that an international education charity the singer backs, Success for Kids, is being investigated by FBI agents in Los Angeles for alleged irregularities and suspicious activity.

The reports follow news last month that another charity backed by Madonna, Raising Malawi, had scrapped a plan to build a school for impoverished girls in Malawi due to mismanagement. The board of that charity was sacked.

"In recent days a number of wild and totally false rumors about Madonna`s philanthropy -- spread by bloggers and tabloids -- have begun appearing on the Internet," Madonna`s spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg said in a statement. "Neither Madonna nor Raising Malawi is being investigated by the FBI or the IRS (U.S. tax authorities). It is unfortunate that people have chosen to say things about Raising Malawi and Madonna that are not true."

London Plans Giant Screens to Show Royal Wedding

Shear English - Well-wishers gathering in London to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton will be able to watch the ceremony on two giant screens in the city centre, the capital`s mayor said on Thursday. Only 1,900 people -- from family and friends to foreign dignitaries, diplomats, soldiers and charity workers -- have invitations to watch the service inside Westminster Abbey on April 29.

Outside, tens of thousands of people are expected to line the route of the couple`s wedding procession to the abbey from Buckingham Palace.  The screens will be erected nearby in Trafalgar Square and Hyde Park, Mayor of London Boris Johnson said.

"The royal wedding will be a truly momentous occasion and we want everyone to be able to join in the celebrations," he said.

Two billion people around the world are expected to tune into television broadcasts of the royal marriage, Britain`s culture minister Jeremy Hunt said on Wednesday.

Jackie Chan and Other Asian Stars Raised Over HK$25 Million ($3.2 million)

Shear English - Action hero Jackie Chan and other Asian stars raised over HK$25 million ($3.2 million) at a charity concert Friday in Hong Kong for disaster-hit Japan, where over 28,000 are dead or missing. "We`re here to tell the people of Japan -- you`re not alone," said Chan, one of the initiators of the celebrity concert. "Don`t give up, hang in there."

A massive 9.0-earthquake and tsunami hit Japan on March 11, devastating large areas of the northeast coast and leading to an ongoing nuclear emergency at a crippled atomic plant. "They have a long to recovery ahead of them, but I hope they can stay strong and positive," said Chan, who personally donated HK$4 million to cover the production costs of the concert so that the proceeds could go to quake victims. "We`re here to help in whatever way we can," he added. "I thank the people of Hong Kong -- they have shown tremendous generosity."

The veteran movie star was joined by performers from Taiwan, China, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia for the three-hour show in the city`s bustling Causeway Bay district, where stars performed songs interspersed with video footage of the quake. The event featured a theme song called "Succumb not to sorrow", based on a popular Japanese poem that praises the tenacity of Japan`s people in the face of hardship.
